ap chem review schedule (tentative)  ---  covid; spring 2021

ap digital testing guide

    technical requirements (starts on p. 31):  e.g.  devices; OS; hardware; bandwidth

    preparing for the ap digital test (i.e. to be done before the ap test); starts from p. 37

     taking the ap digital test (starts on p. 42):  e.g. download / install / practice use  testing app

 contact the school's ap coordinator, Mr. Panjabi, if there are any technology issues or any other issues related to taking the online / digital ap test

exam format

      60 MC for 90 minutes --> 1:30 per MC; 10 of 60 MC will not count towards your score; will be used to "adjust" scores

     40 MC for 60 minutes  --> 1:30 per MC

    3 FRQ for 45 minutes:  1 long (10 points); 2 short (4 points each) -->  25 minutes for long & 10 each for short

     While may use calculator (includes CAS calculator) in both MC and FRQ sections of the test, should not need it in MC.

 potential review resources; recommend use prior to doing the below MC unit practice test

       CB Youtube review videos channel

       Khan academy videos / text

To drop a test in the spring semester, have to do the below HW and lab assignments / links; may not miss more than 3 assignments / links.

MC format = one MC question / problem per slide to simulate / emulate digital ap chem MC format, where (i) can work on a single question at a time, (ii) work at an average of 90 seconds / question, and (iii) can not return to a past question, so recommend practice this skill. realize it's not a "good" test strategery, but practice . . .

   over view of units.

      unit 1:   atomic structure & properties; ~ 7 - 9 % of exam

     unit 2:  molecular & ionic compound structure & properties;  ~ 7 - 9 % of exam

     unit 3:  intermolecular force, gas, solution, & light; ~ 18 - 22 % of exam

     unit 4:  chemical reactions & stochio; ~ 7 - 9 % of exam

     unit 5:  kinetics; ~ 7 - 9 % of exam

     unit 6:  thermochemistry; ~ 7 - 9 % of exam

     unit 7:  equilibrium; ~ 7 - 9 % of exam

     unit 8:  acid / base; ~ 11 - 15 % of exam ; Excel titration simulation by  other or  me

     unit 9: thermodynamics & electrochem; ~ 7 - 9 % of exam

 FRQ

   lab_thermo_spectroscopy - [8]  FRQ   &  rubric

   lab_titration_gravimetric_misc  -  [13]   FRQ  &  rubric

    problems with fake chemical / periodic table; goto ap classroom for more examples; rubric

    long / calculation -  [13]  FRQ  &  rubric

    short / essay - [8]  FRQ & rubric

mock test  -- to simulate taking the test, recommend: use 60 minutes to do all of  the 2018 MC and the first 10 MC in the 2019 test at one seating, take about a 10 minute break, then use 60 minutes to do the remaining 40 MC questions, then use 45 minutes to one"long" FRQ (# 1, 2, or 3), then do two "short" FRQ (i.e. # 4, 5, 6, or 7).

note: there will a different # FRQ & # MC in your online test compared to the below FRQ & MC test questions shown below

FRQ to become available May 2021 in ap classroom. while it will not be an assignment for points, recommend doing below FRQ / MC

   2017  FRQ

   2018  FRQ
